A DJ and music producer living in San Francisco, Dan Finnerty, AKA Spinnerty
was pleased when he heard the news: "I can only hope that my work
can in some way inspire others to follow in the steps of Davis by being
true to themselves and their beliefs. The lessons learned from Davis and
her times are still relevant and applicable to today's society. We've
still got a lot of work to do!"
I'm working to expand the project through a limited-edition CD with contributions
from a curated group of artists. To participate, receive more information,
please contact me.
I'm an interdisciplinary artist and educator,
and I'm currently looking for a new opportunity after my current position
at Saint Mary's College
of Maryland ends this spring. If you have any leads, please contact
me.
I work collaboratively to create humorous situations in which a conflation of spectatorship and authorship develops through conversation. The interaction inherent in the dialogic process alters the way content and meaning is generated, it enables learning, and provides participants with a richer, more complex art experience. After the live aspect concludes, my projects often enter a second stage of dissemination through interventions into mainstream news media. This is accompanied by video and web-based documentation, creating entirely new works that are accessible to a wider audience.
