After screening examples of code "easter eggs", hacked video games, and early net art projects like Heath Bunting's read_me (1996) and jodi.org (1995), students create a simple site in a text editor, thinking about places to embed secret messages within the source code through ASCII art, META tags, comments, tooltips, page titles, and other details.
