Film, video and computer animation are constructed on a basic building
block: the frame. As one of the oldest forms of the moving image, the
photo-roman (also known as cine-roman) serves as an ideal introduction
to the language of time-based media.
After studying works such as Chris Marker's La Jetee (1962)
and Eadward Muybridge's photographic experiments, students
created slide shows with Photoshop and Final Cut Pro or iMovie.
